Taipei has an endless supply of fun things to do with kids. The 3 to 9 year old crowd probably has the greatest selection, like this glass blowing workshop at Kun’s Crystal, located in the Eslite (誠品) Spectrum mall. Many blog posts are devoted to the wonder that is the chain of Eslite bookstores here in Taipei. Overpriced? Check. Lots of Japanese imports? Check. An air-conditioned window shopping oasis? Double check. This particular branch of the Eslite chain is my favorite, since it carries a lot of local Taiwanese brands, is located in a renovated complex of a once tobacco factory, houses the critically-acclaimed Wu Pao Chun bakery and has a handful of DIY workshops where you can blow glass, make your own wallet, throw a vase on a potter’s wheel, etc.
I wasn’t hopeful getting Jules a spot in the glass blowing workshop since we came on a Sunday, but we were able to score a spot an hour away. Uncle Howard and Auntie Jungha were in town, and the teachers kindly allowed all three of us to join Jules in the work room, taking an excessive amount of photos.
